Panthers run-rule Collins 12-0 behind Reid Frazier's no hitter!
Panthers took the win Friday night on a run rule against Collins 12-0. Reid Frazier pitched a no hitter allowing only 2 runners to reach (one on an error and one hit batsman). Frazier struck out 7, walked 0 and relied on some great Panther defense, timely hits and 4 errors by Collins to shut out the Tigers.
Rocka singled and Holland walked in the top of the first but were both left stranded to end the half inning. Frazier made quick work of Collins in the bottom half of the inning, striking out 2 and a line drive to Abdul Houck at third relay throw to Tyler Williams at first ended the side.
Oak’s showed its speed in the second when Matt Sloan beat out the throw to first, stole second, went to third on a passed ball and a wild pitch eventually took him home for the score. Houck and Rocka walked which loaded the bases and a single by Ryan Moon brought in Houck. Pinch Runner Zach Schulze went from first to home on a huge double to the left fence by Nolan Holland resulting in two RBI’s. Reid Frazier walked and pinch runner Jake La Rue was left stranded on first to end the inning with Oak up 4-0.
Frazier had another commanding inning striking out 2 and fielding a line drive back to him and the throw to Williams ended the inning. Oak took advantage of an error at first with Adam Lemmon reaching on a blooper. Sloan moved Lemmon to second but failed to reach on a ground out to third and Lemmon stole third. Houck was hit by a pitch moving him to first and another Collins’ error in left helped Blake Ashford to first and scored Lemmon. A pitching change by Collins resulted in a walk by Rocka loading the bases but 2 strike outs ended the inning.
Frazier made quick work of Collins again in the third striking out 2 and a Rocka – Williams grounder put the third out on the board. Not sure why, but Collins only batted 8 before returning to the top of the order. Oak had another big inning at the bottom of the 4th with a hard hit down the third base line putting Frazier on 2nd to start the top of the fourth. Pinch Runner La Rue was moved around the diamond with walks by Williams and Lemmon loading the bases. Houck walked and Ashford was hit by a pitch which walked in LaRue and Williams. Rocka walked forcing another run and Moon doubled sending in 2 runners, Williams and Houck. Holland reached on an error at third and Frazier was hit by a pitch. A double play ended the inning with Oak up 12-0.
Oak did some substituting in the bottom of the 4th bringing in LaRue to left, Schulze to short, Hass to second and Reyes to catch. The first two batters were retired with a flyout to Holland to center and a strikeout. An error allowed the third batter to reach but Frazier retired the side with a strikeout bringing the Panthers to bat in the 5th. Three quick outs brought up the Tigers for their last at bat. A hit batsman put a runner on but Williams retired the next batter on a sharp grounder to first and a ground ball to Schulze at short and a throw to first retired the next hitter. Frazier ended the game on a strikeout. Outstanding job Panthers.
